What does AFRDI Approved mean? AFRDI (Australasian Furniture Research &Development Institute) Certified Chairs provide an assurance that the chair you want has been tested and assessed to make sure it meets expected quality standards. This includes testing its strength, safety, stability, suitability of purpose, and flammability. An AFRDI chair also means that the workmanship and sustainability through the chair’s durability has been stringently evaluated. Tested to Support Up to 110kg
Most AFRDI certified office swivel chairs in Australia and New Zealand are tested to the requirements of 'AS/NZS 4438:1997 - Height adjustable swivel chairs'. This standard is regarded as appropriate for chairs required to hold a person up to a weight of approximately 110kg. This does not mean that AFRDI chairs will not be able to hold more weight. As 98% of the population fit under the 110kg bracket. However, some of our AFRDI chairs are rated to 160kg (AFRDI 142 rated load)
Meets Most Commercial Needs
An AFRDI rating will help you select a chair that meets your requirements. An AFRDI Level 6 certified office chair will meet most commercial needs. Level 6 AFRDI certified chairs should be able to withstand extremely severe conditions of use, such as police stations, military installations, control rooms and heavy industrial environments, etc.
